Nigerian Army Ignores Summons, Fails To Appear Before Lagos Panel

The Nigerian Army has again failed to appear before the Lagos State Judicial Panel on Restitution for victims of SARS and other related matters.
It’s the third time they’ve failed to honour the summons of the panel for officers involved in the shooting to explain what happened at the Lekki toll gate on the 20th of October 2020.
At today’s proceedings, Counsel to the panel, Jonathan Ogunsanya confirmed that summons were sent to three army officers.
“Summons was sent to Colonel Bello. The second summons was served on Major General Godwin Umelo, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Lagos and Ogun State of the Nigerian Army, Victoria Island. ....

The Lagos State Judicial Panel on Restitution for victims of SARS and other related matters on Tuesday listed nine petitions, for hearing.
In the first petition of Omeli Humphrey Darlington VS the Nigeria Police, the panel resumed for the adoption of the final written addresses by counsel for the petitioner, Olukoya Ogungbeje and counsel for the respondent, Cyril Ejiofor.
Ejiofor representing the Nigerian Police adopted his final address but contested paragraph 4.3 of the petitioner’s address.
The panel then reserved its decision after saying that it will notify lawyers when same is ready. ....

#EndSARS: Lagos Judicial Panel Hears Six Petitions

The Lagos State Judicial Panel on Restitution for victims of SARS and other related matters on Saturday listed six petitions, for hearing.
Of the six, only two could be heard. In the first petition of Canaan Chukwuezi, the counsel to the Nigerian Police, Joseph Eboseremen told the panel that this was the second time the case was being called but the petitioner was absent just as he was the first time.
The counsel asked the panel to strike out the petition for a lack of diligent prosecution.
The counsel to the panel, Jonathan Ogunsanya, however, pleaded that the petitioner is given the very last opportunity to appear and present his case. ....
