Sh200 million fraud suspect to remain behind bars


The senior sergeant who is attached to Lang’ata Women’s Prison has been accused of being the face of a scheme that led to Kenyans losing millions of shillings while offering fake promises of job opportunities at government institutions.
Inspector of Police Nicholas Ole Sena Through a miscellaneous application​ told the court that he was investigating forgery, making a document without authority, and obtaining money by pretenses, among other cases related to money laundering.
In his affidavit, the officer noted that on May 12, 2021, a report was made at the DCI complaint section that Nasra was allegedly leading a syndicate organization that purported to give job opportunities to Kenyans. ....

A Kenya prison senior sergeant is expected in court over claims she swindled Kenyans of millions of shilling in a con racket.
Grace Nyamohanga, alias Nasra, who is accused of running an Sh200 million con racket, has surrendered to police yesterday after learning she was wanted.

A senior warden at the Lang’ata Women’s Prison has surrendered herself to the DCI.
Grace Nyamohanga appeared before DCI serious crime Unit investigators on Sunday morning after the DCI announced that she was being sought to help the police with investigations into a Sh200 million fake job racket.
The 50-year-old officer was detained and is expected in court to answer to three counts.
Investigators have lined up among other charges: Forgery, making a document without authority, and obtaining money by false pretenses. ....

Covered in a bright yellow sweater to protect herself from the parky Nairobi cold, Jane Muthoni sat quietly on a plastic chair at the Lang’ata Women’s Prison keenly following the virtual ruling on murder suit against her at the Nakuru High Court.
Justice Joel Ngugi was holding the key to her freedom, or the sliding bolt that would lock her behind bars, possibly for the remainder of her life. Her fate was contained in a 76-page ruling.
It took tens of minutes for the judge to read the entire pronouncement, and the more the pages flipped, the more it dawned on Muthoni that she would be found culpable for the murder of her husband, Solomon Mwangi. ....
