All School District of Lancaster employees who aren’t vaccinated against COVID-19 must be tested up to two times per week, according to a policy approved by the school board Tuesday
Lancaster County educators were thrilled to get vaccinated once Pennsylvania prioritized the first Johnson & Johnson vaccine shipments for school personnel.
Even with the news that the Johnson & Johnson shot may be linked to rare blood clots, prompting state officials to pause administering doses in accordance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Food and Drug Administration, that hasnât changed.
âIn the millions of doses, there have only been a handful of adverse reactions, so the vaccine is still very safe,â Conestoga Valley High School biology teacher and Conestoga Valley Education Association President Tara Flick said.

The School District of Lancaster will survey parents this week on three different learning environments they may select for their children beginning Jan. 25.
This move comes after Superintendent Damaris Rau on Tuesday night unveiled plans to make Jan. 25 the date the district will welcome students to return to class if they wish. Most of the districtâs 11,000 students havenât experienced that since March.
However, board members who will vote next week did not give Rau unofficial verbal approval for the proposal, which also calls for in-class learning five days each week and covers the entire educational day, all while social distancing 6 feet at all times.
