Up to 21K were without power Friday as extreme winds reached 64 mph


There were a plethora of incidents involving fallen trees, downed cables and power outages Friday in Lancaster County as winds reached up to 64 mph in certain areas as part of a storm expected to continue into Saturday morning.
At one point — around 5:30 p.m. — there were about 21,000 PPL customers without power, according to Jane George, regional affairs director for PPL. That number was down to 1,121 at 7:15 p.m., George said.
We had strong, damaging winds that were causing power outages throughout our entire service territory, George said. We re working around the clock as safely and quickly as possible to restore power to customers who have experienced outages. ....

Positive COVID-19 Cases Increasing in Pennsylvania
(Harrisburg, PA)   Positive COVID-19 cases are continuing to rise in Pennsylvania. The state s Department of Health reported over four-thousand new positive cases yesterday. The total number of cases has now surpassed 876,000 since the beginning of the pandemic. There were also 149 deaths reported yesterday linked to complications of the coronavirus.
Governor Wolf Calls for Minimum Wage Increase
(Harrisburg, PA)   Governor Tom Wolf is showing his support to increase Pennsylvania s minimum wage. Governor Wolf announced yesterday that he is calling for the state to increase the minimum wage to 12-dollars per hour starting this July. Wolf s proposed plan would add fifty-cent increases to the minimum wage rate every year until 2027 when it reaches 15-dollars per hour. He also proposed an income tax cut that would affect almost three-million citizens in the state. ....
