Rams off to best start at 12-0; Murphy closes in on state record The countdown to the record continues this week for Rio Rancho High School baseball coach Ron Murphy, and as long as his Rams win their game at Cibola on Tuesday, he’ll be set to tie the state record of 581 victories, held by longtime Bloomfield coach John Gutierrez. Murphy picked up his 579th career win Wednesday afternoon at Atrisco Heritage Academy in the Rams’ district 1-5A opener. A win over the Cougars would be No. 580. Here’s the kicker: Murphy would be poised to match Gutierrez this coming Friday, when the Rams entertain Cleveland High and with wins May 21 vs. Cibola and this Tuesday at Volcano Vista, Storm coach Shane Shallenberger would be aiming at his 300th career win. ....
(Lamar, COLO.) – Lamar Community College (LCC) Nursing graduates were honored on May 7 during a Nurse Pinning Ceremony, the culminating event that celebrates the students’ completion of their studies and ability to begin working professionally. Twenty-three students from the class of 2021 were pinned during the ceremony, held at the LCC Wellness Center, including eight from the Level I (Practical Nursing) and 15 from the Level II (Associate Degree in Nursing/Registered Nurse) programs. Class of 2020 graduates were also honored during the event, allowing them to hold an in-person ceremony after the pandemic barred them from the ability to hold the traditional rite of passage. Twenty-nine students from the Class of 2020 were pinned, including 15 from the Level I (Practical Nursing) and 14 from the Level II (Associate Degree in Nursing/Registered Nurse) programs. ....
