Ten-week-old Lily-Mai Saint George collapsed at home and died two days later at Great Ormond Street Hospital in central London. She had 19 fractured ribs, a serious head injury, an eye injury, spinal injury and multiple bruises, the inquest heard. Her parents, who were 20 and 21 at the time, had her for six days. Inquest finds baby from Haringey who died was unlawfully killed

A baby girl who died from a serious head injury after being found unresponsive at her home was unlawfully killed, a coroner has ruled.
Healthcare professionals were concerned about 10-week-old Lily-Mai Hurrell Saint George being discharged from hospital and into the care of her parents, an inquest at St Pancras Coroner’s Court heard on Monday.
Police said there was insufficient evidence to charge either or both of her parents – Lauren Saint George and Darren Hurrell – in connection with Lily-Mai’s death.
Lily-Mai died at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London on February 2 2018, after being found unresponsive by her parents at their home in Belmont Road, Haringey, two days earlier. ....

A baby girl who died from a serious head injury after being found unresponsive at her home was unlawfully killed, a coroner has ruled.
Ten-week-old Lily-Mai Hurrell Saint George died at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London in February 2018.
She had 19 rib fractures and a serious head injury, the inquest at St Pancras Coroner s Court heard.
The coroner said Haringey children s services decision to discharge the baby was utterly bewildering .
The court heard Lily-Mai was born premature and had spent the first two months of her life in Barnet Hospital.
At the time she was discharged into her parents care on 25 January 2018, healthcare professionals had raised concerns about Lily-Mai being sent home to her parents, Lauren Saint George and Darren Hurrell. ....

Coroner blasts Baby P scandal council over death of newborn girl with horrific injuries


A coroner has blasted the utterly bewildering decision to send a ten-week-old baby back to her parents where she died from a catalogue of injuries in the same council where Baby P died in 2007.
Lily-Mai Saint George collapsed in her family home in Tottenham on January 31, 2018, and died of her injuries two days later at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The coroner ruled on Monday that her killing was unlawful but police said there is insufficient evidence to charge either of her parents Darren Hurrell or Lauren Saint George.
An inquest at St Pancras Coroner s Court heard Lily-Mai had 19 rib fractures and a serious head injury which caused her death. ....
