CANTON The St. Lawrence County Fair Housing Task Force plans to meet via Zoom at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 27.
Among the agenda items will be an update regarding evictions in St. Lawrence County.
Anyone who is interested in attending the meeting should contact the Planning Office for access credentials at 315-379-2292.
The next meeting for the task force will be Thursday, Aug. 26 at 9 a.m.

• Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing as required by Office of Community Renewal.

Massena town board passes motions needed to get microenterprise, rural development cash

MASSENA The Town Council passed resolutions that are required to receive the Housing and Urban Development microenterprise grant program and the USDA Rural Development grant.
They took the actions during their Wednesday, Jan. 20 meeting streamed online via Zoom.
In August, Rep. Elise Stefanik’s office announced $4 million from the USDA program would fund water improvements in the town.
At the January meeting, Jim Murphy from the Massena Business Development Corporation said the town can’t get the money without passing a fair housing law, a grievance procedure for housing complaints under the Americans with Disabilities Act for the HUD money. For the USDA money, they had to pass a procedure in place to assist people who deal with the town but don’t speak English. ....
