An open letter to the citizens of Ogdensburg:
Ogdensburg Firefighters Local 1799 have the following responses to some of City Manager Stephen Jellie’s recent comments.
We hope to set the record straight.
1. Jellie was quoted recently as stating that, “In 5 months as City Manager, I have requested on more than 10 occasions to meet with Local 1799 and collectively develop a plan to reduce the size of the Fire Department but each request was refused.” ....

Ogdensburg City Council still hot over Fire Department budget

OGDENSBURG â The Dec. 9 split approval of the 2021 spending plan for the city and its cuts to staffing in the city Fire Department was still a topic of controversy at City Councilâs last scheduled meeting of the year Monday night.
âWhatâs the plan right now?â Councilor Daniel E. Skamperle asked. âI know with the budget being passed it looks like we are going to lose seven men, and I am wondering when is that supposed to transpire? What is the plan for fighting fires? Do we have mutual aid agreements in place? And what about the retirements? Can we get an update and have a discussion?â ....
