LAS CRUCES – The state pause on the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine means a mega vaccination event slated for this Saturday in Las Cruces, which originally planned to vaccinate 6,000 people across two vaccination sites, will be much smaller, with more than half of the planned vaccinations canceled.
On Tuesday, the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended a pause on using the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine while they review several cases of blood clotting out of an abundance of caution. Six women, ages 18 to 48, out of over 6.8 million doses administered in the U.S. experienced a rare and severe type of blood clot cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. ....

LAS CRUCES - Las Cruces will not ask the state to limit a law which protects government whistleblowers unless the city s legal department provides more information to city elected officials.
On Monday, the Las Cruces City Council passed a resolution, originally tabled Dec. 7, formally laying out its legislative policy priorities for the 2021 legislative session.
