Workshop designed for concerned community members

As the pandemic continues, families continue to face immense stress. It is important, now more than ever, to speak up or act if you are concerned for a child. Healthy Kids is offering through Zoom, the Front Porch Project workshop for any community member who has ever been concerned about a child or family in a public place like the grocery store, or your neighborhood.
The Front Porch Project workshop is three hours and will be offered twice, March 9 from 9 a.m. to noon and March 10 from 4-7 p.m. on Zoom.
The workshop looks at why people do (and don’t) get involved and provides strategies on how you can help by stepping in and supporting families. Specifically, this training teaches you to: Increase your awareness regarding prevention, identify when and how to get involved, increase your comfort level with intervening and differing parenting styles, think about possible responses, understanding the impact of cu ....

The last 47 weeks have been a real pain in the tush. We have cocooned at home, seeing no one, not even family, except for my sainted mother-in-law, who popped in occasionally. Our wayward brood lives about a thousand miles away, and even the thought of getting on a plane with a hundred strangers scared the pants off of us.
We have missed lots, including weddings and wakes. We missed meals at our community s wonderful restaurants, headliners who stopped at the Opera House. We missed the warmth of friends sitting around a table trading stories. Some of them were even true. ....

Andrews makes 10,000th visit as district nurse

For Lauri Andrews, Nov. 25 started out like most any other day in her duties as Boothbay Region District Nurse. Her visit with Wally Dodge, 74, of East Boothbay marked her 10,000th visit as district nurse.
Since 2014, Andrews has consulted with nearly 40 patients per month. She provides medical services not covered by insurance to residents in Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor and Southport. Andrews’ duties include IV administrations, medication management, blood draws, blood pressure monitoring and wellness checks. The day before Thanksgiving marked Andrews’ milestone. ....
