CHATHAM CO., Ga. (WTOC) - A mass vaccination site officially opened to the public Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. in Chatham County.
The state-run site is located on the campus of Gulfstream Aerospace, just off of Interstate 95 (exit 104) near the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport.
The Georgia Emergency Management Agency vaccine site is looking to make the experience as quick and as user-friendly as possible, estimating they can get folks through the lines in about 4-6 minutes. It is a drive-thru site and runs by appointment only. The goal is to give out around 2,000 first doses of the Pfizer vaccine per day. ....

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Chatham County’s mass vaccination site opened on Wednesday at the Gulfstream facility. Georgia Emergency Management Agency leaders say they can do about 2,000 vaccinations in one day. On their first day, the site just had a few hundred scheduled.
“I just have been waiting and waiting and waiting to get this vaccination so I am thrilled to be here,” said Stacey Valant of Savannah, who received a COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday, ....

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A new state run mass vaccination site is just days away here in Savannah. It will be one of 9 in Georgia when it opens on St. Patrick’s Day.
Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) has officially taken over a Gulfstream parking lot to create a mass vaccination clinic. They will be able to give about 2,000 first doses of Pfizer’s vaccine starting Wednesday.
“We’re pretty much ready,” said Lisa Rodriguez-Presley, External Affairs Supervisor for GEMA. “Everything is in place we’re getting the vaccine in so we are ready for people to start coming and getting vaccinated.” ....

Vaccine Success And Challenge In Georgia's First COVID-19 Hotspot


There is a pair of vaccination machines in Albany, Ga.
The first one is in the employee gym at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. There, people run through the COVID-19 vaccination process with assembly-line efficiency.
A beep at the door signals a temperature check, then clerical workers with computer tablets check people in before the main event: a jab in the arm on the basketball court, where an enormous American flag is pinned to the wall.
This scene repeats about 900 times a day.
Compare that scene to a year ago, when the hospital had just recorded its first cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. By the end of March 2020, there were 490 cases in surrounding Dougherty County. And so began one of the first COVID surges in the nation.  For a time, Albany was a global COVID-19 hotspot. ....

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security (GEMA) said the Latino turnout for the COVID-19 vaccine has been low in Albany.
The state site has been open for nearly two weeks.
External Affairs Supervisor Lisa Rodriguez-Presley said they’ve heard the Latin community has concerns the site will check immigration documents or status.
