SMYRNA, Tenn. – After several close calls during her first four seasons on the Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour, England’s Verity Crawley broke through for her first victory Saturday at the PWBA Greater Nashville Open.
The 26-year-old right-hander won three matches in the stepladder at Smyrna Bowling Center on the way to the title and $10,000 top prize, defeating Poland’s Daria Pajak in the final, 245-168.
The championship round was broadcast live on BowlTV.com.
Crawley had recorded four runner-up finishes on tour prior to her win Saturday, including a loss to Pajak, one of her tour roommates, in the championship match of the 2017 PWBA Greater Detroit Open. ....

PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio - When Stephanie Zavala of Downey, California, decided to become a member of the Professional Women’s Bowling Association, she listed winning the PWBA Rookie of the Year award as her top goal.
It didn’t take long for Zavala to become a front-runner for the award in the 2021 season after capturing her first career PWBA Tour title Saturday at the PWBA Greater Cleveland Open.
Zavala defeated Bryanna Coté of Tucson, Arizona, in the championship match at Yorktown Lanes, 247-216, to claim the title in just her third tournament as a tour member.
The victory, broadcast live on BowlTV.com, earned Zavala the $10,000 top prize. ....

Just two days shy of her 25th birthday, Bond rebounded from a ninth-frame split with a title-clinching double, defeating top seed Lindsay Boomershine of Perry, Utah, 222-210.
The Hall of Fame Classic was the final event of the PWBA Kickoff Classic Series, which included three national tour stops and one regional event during its seven-day run at the International Training and Research Center, the home of Team USA.

The right-hander already was a three-time PWBA regional winner, in addition to a victory at the made-for-TV Go Bowling! ARLINGTON, Texas - Coming into the 2021 Professional Women s Bowling Association season, Ashly Galante of Palm Harbor, Florida, feels she has matured beyond just the more than 500 days since her last PWBA Tour appearance, and her progress was on display Wednesday in qualifying at the season-opening PWBA Bowlers Journal Classic.
The 32-year-old right-hander opened the event with a 245 game and averaged more than 222 over nine games at the International Training and Research Center to lead the 36-player field with a 2,000 total, but the true test of how far she has come will happen Thursday in match play.
Still in search of her first PWBA Tour title, Galante will enter the next round of competition just a few pins ahead of the diverse group of contenders. ....
