The Basehor-Linwood Board of Education has hired a new superintendent.
Doug Powers will replace David Howard, who is retiring as the superintendent at the end of the school year.
Powers was hired for the job Thursday during a special meeting of the USD 458 Basehor-Linwood Board of Education.
Powers will officially begin his duties as the new superintendent July 1.
He currently is employed by the Turner school district, Kansas City, Kansas, as the assistant superintendent of facilities and public relations.
He previously served as a superintendent in the Maize and Marysville school districts, according to a news release from the Basehor-Linwood district. ....
