MULLUMBIMBY has recorded the highest amount of rain on the Northern Rivers in 2020, according to weather data from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM).
The Mullumbimby weather station at Fairview Farm recorded 2328.7mm of rain for 2020, followed closely by Rosebank (Upper Coopers Creek) with 2324mm.
For many weather stations around the Northern Rivers, the biggest amounts of precipitation were recorded last year in February or December.
For most locations, the amount recorded in 2020 was more than double the total rain registered in 2019 or 2018.
Detailed analysis of the data for 2020 will be released by the Bureau on its yearly Weather Report for 2020, expected to be out in coming weeks. ....

Girl almost lost her hand in shooting, court told

TWO men accused of being involved in a shooting which saw a teenage girl almost lose her left hand, have had their court case adjourned until next year.
The case involving Jordan Close and Brody Roberts has been adjourned until February 10, 2021 for charge certification.
Mr Close, 22, and Mr Roberts, 24, have been accused of being involved in a shooting which saw an a 19-year old girl almost lose her left hand due to the damage.
The Director of Public Prosecutions told the court that discussions were ongoing with Mr Close, 22, and a deal had been offered.
Police allege that Mr Close shot the woman in her left hand while they were travelling at Lillian Rock on April 19. ....

Mum labelled drug 'foot soldier' sentenced over meth supply

A LISMORE mother has been sentenced after pleading guilty to supplying a prohibited drug after she was targeted by a local police operation looking into the supply of methylamphetamine.
Ashleigh Aitken pleaded guilty to supplying 49.75 grams of methylamphetamine between April 8 to 22 this year.
Operation Braun Beck, launched by police in January 2020, identified Aitken as being involved in the supply of prohibited drugs in Ballina and Goonellabah, according to court documents.
Court records show a series of text messages between Aitken and her co-accused, Dillion Buddy Ingleton, discussing the supply of methylamphetamine, which is a prohibited substance and Xanax, which is a restricted substance under the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act. ....
