After 17 years as Executive Director of Wharton Center, Mike Brand has announced his plans to retire by June 2022.
MSU s Wharton Center provides world-class performing arts opportunities for the campus community, Greater Lansing region, and beyond, said MSU Provost Teresa K. Woodruff, Ph.D. Mr. Brand has been at the center of those contributions for 17 years, ensuring the high quality and rich diversity of Wharton Center s programming while advancing the arts as a vital component of Michigan State University s mission and values.
Wharton Center has experienced significant growth under Mike Brand s leadership, expanding from an annual operating budget of $5 million in 2003 to $16 million in 2019. Brand s guidance has continued through the pandemic, with the 21-22 season signaling Wharton Center s return to the stage with a lineup of programming, ....

Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame Announces 2021 Class


New Westminster Salmonbellies Sr. A (1980-1989).
These new inductees bring the total number honoured in lacrosse s national shrine to  550  –   162  Builders, 332  Players and  56  Veterans (those who played in 1985 or before). There are also 24 teams inducted under the Team category.
The formal induction banquet and ceremonies are scheduled for November.

Derek Malawsky
Derek Played his Junior A lacrosse with Coquitlam from 1991 -1994 then moved on to a Sr A career that saw stints with New Westminster (1995 -1997),  Buffalo (1998), North Shore (1999), Okanagan (2000-2001) and Victoria (2002 – 2006).  In addition to his Sr A Career he  played in the NLL for  Ontario (1998), Buffalo (2000 – 2001), Rochester (2002 – 2004), San Jose (2005 – 2006),  Arizona (2007), Portland (2008 – 2009), and Colorado (2010). He was a member of Team Canada in 2002.  Derek was a member of the Mann Cup winning teams with Victo ....

It’s not like the League had a real season to begin with.
Only six OJHL clubs have played in 58 exhibition games this season. Regional Public Health Unit regulations made it next to impossible to get any real games going around the province.
In August 2020, the OJHL developed a comprehensive “Return to the Rink” procedural plan with strict protocols which were presented and approved by the OHF for Junior hockey to be used in each of the leagues under the OHA.
These protocols have been followed for all of the exhibition play within the association that have taken place this season with the safety of all those who were able to participate taken very seriously. ....

The ECHL issued this news release today:
PRINCETON, N.J. The ECHL announced on Wednesday that the League’s Board of Governors has approved the expansion application of Savannah, Georgia for admittance into the League.
Savannah, which will be owned by Andy Kauffman who also owns Jacksonville Icemen, will begin play in in the 2022-23 Season at the new Savannah Arena, slated for completion in Spring 2022, which will hold 7,300 fans for hockey.
“The ECHL is excited to welcome the City of Savannah as our newest member,” said ECHL Commissioner Ryan Crelin. “We have a great working relationship with Andy his management group and we look forward to bringing ECHL hockey to the Savannah community in October 2022 and the creation of natural rivalries with the Atlanta Gladiators, South Carolina Stingrays, Greenville Swamp Rabbits and Jacksonville Icemen.” ....
