Lufkin State Supported Living Center holds job fair to fill 200 positions

ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Recruiters for the Lufkin State Supported Living Center are hosting an on-site job fair on Tuesday, April 6, to fill more than 200 positions.
Lufkin SSLC provides residential care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The center has openings for LVNs, direct care staff, custodians, food service workers, dietitians, behavior health specialists and maintenance staff.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, face masks and social distancing will be required at the job fair. Staff will be following all recommended safety precautions and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. ....

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkinâs State Supported Living Center has received the COVID-19 Moderna vaccine. Director Gail Wasson tells us they received a total of 1100 doses.
Testing began on Wednesday and the frontline workers were the first to go.
About 50 vaccinations have been completed so far. Officials say they plan to have 200 complete by Sunday.
âThat part of why I got the shot yesterday, because I really want the staff to know that I trust the vaccine. I do not want anyone else to die or suffer. It has been a very rough year already,â Wasson said. ....

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Lufkin State Supported Living Center received its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday.
Vaccinations for staff are scheduled to begin Thursday morning. The vaccine, manufactured by Moderna, is being offered to all staff who want to get vaccinated.
Approximately 1,000 staff work on the campus.
The Texas Department of Health and Human Services operates state-supported living centers. They serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. ....
