On Wednesday 26 May, the House of Lords approved the appointment of Martin Jelley QPM and Akbar Khan as House of Lords Commissioners for Standards.
Commissioners for Standards
The Commissioners for Standards is responsible for the independent and impartial investigation of alleged breaches of the House of Lords Code of Conduct, including bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct.
New Commissioners
Martin Jelly and Akbar Khan will take over from the current Commissioner for Standards, Lucy Scott-Moncrieff, on 1 June and 1 July respectively.

A Conservative member of the House of Lords is under investigation for refusing to take part in mandatory anti-sexual harassment training, telling Insider that if he did so it would be an act of treason against the Queen.
Lord David James, Baron of Blackheath, 83, is one of four peers remaining under investigation by the House of Lords Commissioner for Standards, Lucy Scott-Moncrieff, for failing to take part in the training programme, introduced to tackle bullying, harassment, and sexual misconduct in Parliament.
