TOP DOG New Venture Championship winners for 2021 announced

First place team
A total of $7,500 in cash and prizes was awarded during the TOP DOG New Venture Championship at Louisiana Tech University. Awards were given to the top three finishers as well as for entrepreneurial spirit.
This past October, teams developed ideas and competed in the TOP DOG Idea Pitch. After the pitch, student teams had the option to continue with their ideas and build an investor deck to enter the preliminary round of the New Venture Championship. During the final round in May, seven multi-disciplinary teams advanced to compete in the TOP DOG New Venture Championship.

Peryton Drone: Cyber/Electrical Engineering major Daniel Kumler and Business Management and Entrepreneurship major Cade Spikes won first place and $3,000 with a device that combines flying and driving into one drone in a singular lightweight package. ....

2021-22 COES Graduate Council elected

Louisiana Tech University’s College of Engineering and Science (COES) graduate students have elected the 2021-22 COES Graduate Council.
2021 – 22 COES Graduate Student Council members are (from left) Md Tanbin Hasan Mondal (president), Rifat-E-Nur Hossain (public relations officer), Winner Anigbogu (vice president), Omar Shahrear Apu (treasurer), and MD Shafayet Alam (secretary).
During the election, held on March 22, Md Tanbin Hasan Mondal (doctoral student in engineering with a concentration in micro/nanoscale systems), was elected president of the council, while Winner Anigbogu (doctoral student in engineering with a concentration in micro/nanoscale systems) was elected vice president. SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A Loyola College Prep Junior, Claire Scott, was the winner of the Flyers & Buyers contest on Wednesday, March, 10.
The event is sponsored by Louisiana Tech College of Business, Home Federal Bank, and Barksdale Federal Credit Union and is conducted through the Loyola Law Studies Program. Mathematics alumnae and professor emeritus selected as president-elect of ASEE

Louisiana Tech University mathematics alumnae and professor emeritus Dr. Jenna Carpenter has been selected as the president-elect of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), the national engineering education society dedicated to the professional needs of engineering educators.
Carpenter served in several leadership roles over 26 years with Louisiana Tech’s College of Engineering and Science (COES). She served as program chair of the mathematics and statistics program, director of multiple programs within the College, associate dean of administration and strategic initiatives, and associate dean of undergraduate studies for the COES.
During her tenure at Louisiana Tech, Carpenter was active in diversity and education initiatives, founding the Office for Women in Science and Engineering to provide professional development and mentoring opportunities for women faculty and students within the College.
