DOC arrests employee at LA State Penitentiary on drug charges

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana Department of Corrections announced Friday that an internal investigation has resulted in the arrest of an employee of the Louisiana State Penitentiary.
According to a release from DOC, a Louisiana State Penitentiary Corrections Officer intercepted an attempt to smuggle contraband by a corrections cadet at the prison Friday.
West Feliciana Parish Sheriff s Deputies then booked Aaronecia Smith
, 22, of 38 East Ave, Highway 24 West, Woodville, Mississippi on numerous drug charges.
The release states that the corrections officer noticed the cadet s suspicious demeanor as she drove a state vehicle into the Main Prison sally port. ....
