Onslow County veteran advocate Pat Walker passes away

Walker died early Wednesday morning.
Onslow Board of Commissioners Chairman Jack Bright released a statement on behalf of the board and the county.
“We mourn the passing of Pat Walker. Our sincere condolences to her family, her many friends and her associates who were touched by her drive and compassion. This community benefited from the life and work of Pat Walker. We are saddened by her passing.
In Bright s statement he explains Walker and her husband were well known and frequently seen at veteran events, and as founders of the Vietnam Memorial Foundation. The pair were instrumental in the construction of the Vietnam Memorial and organized motorcycle rides, fundraisers and personally solicited donations that made their dream a reality. ....
