Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger accused of 'unconsented sexual contact' with adult volunteer

Idaho State Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger, Republican of Lewiston, has been accused of having “unconsented sexual contact” with an adult volunteer on the legislative staff in Boise.
Von Ehlinger issued a brief news release this morning denying the accusation and saying he is fully cooperating with the House Ethics Committee as it investigates the allegation. Von Ehlinger, who is serving his first term representing the 6th Legislative District, hired former Lt. Gov. David Leroy as his attorney.
Leroy indicated he couldn’t discuss the facts of the case at this point, but did say the Ethics Committee is expected to release the complaint document sometime today. (Lewiston Tribune) ....

Amtrak is asking Congress for funds as a part of the president s infrastructure bill to extend passenger rail service up the coast to Rockland, but cities in central Maine, including the state capital, would be left out.
Amtrak has proposed extending its Downeaster passenger rail service to Rockland, which is located north on the coast from Brunswick and Portland. The train currently carries riders from Brunswick to Boston.
Amtrak officials are hoping Congress will provide the $80 billion designated for rail in Biden’s American Jobs Plan, they said in an announcement on March 31. ....

Lewiston Airport Board Seeks New Member

The Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport Authority board is seeking a new member. Chris Hayes, who is a commercial helicopter pilot, resigned from the board because he plans to start a flight school at the Lewiston airport.
Hayes just completed single engine, multiple engine and instrument training on airplanes. His plans involve leasing a hangar at the airport, which Hayes said he believes would pose a problem for the city of Lewiston, which owns the airport with Nez Perce County. Lewiston’s legal counsel reviewed state laws about boards such as those that govern the airport and found leaseholders can’t be board members, Lewiston Mayor Mike Collins said. ....
