IOC-Sponsored Anti-Doping Workshops Set for Saturday


Doping is the use of illegal substances by athletes to make their performance better.
An Anti-Doping workshop sponsored by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for Captains, National Federations, Administrators and Coaches will begin on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at the Apostolic Foundation School at Vamoma House junction, Sinkor.
The workshops are being implemented by the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC) on behalf of the IOC and will cover 22 National Federations, 66 coaches, captains, and 22 Administrators. The workshops, according to the facilitators, will be divided into four sections, 20 persons each, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Facilitators will include, Mr. Emmanuel Agu, Chairman of the Anti-Doping Commission of Liberia; Cllr. Sylvester D. Rennie, Vice President of the LNOC; Mr. Mulbah Zaza, President, Liberia Athletics Federation and Mr. Stenifer Stone, Director of Sports, Young Men Christian Association (YMCA). ....

The Liberia National Olympic Committee has held a special edition of the Spanish fashioned “2020 FUTBOLNET” tournament outside Paynesville City.
The one-day tournament sponsored by OLYMP-AFRICA with funding from the Barcelona Foundation brought together four participating high schools in the Paynesville City area.
Forestland Community High School, St Samuel High School, Charles B. Holmes, and Odell Memorial School were all represented along with a total of over 500 students.
Held on Friday March 5, 2021 at the Olympic Africa Center in KemahTown Soul clinic community (Liberia Olympic Village), the competition allowed each school to form a team inclusive of two females’ players. ....

IOC COVID-19 Awareness Campaign, Donations Extended to High Schools

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) sponsored COVID-19 Awareness Campaign being implemented by the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC) was on Wednesday, March 3, extended to several schools in Sinkor, and Paynesville.
Several schools in the Sinkor belt, including Apostolic Foundation School, Nancy Findley Elementary Memorial School, and AlaCah Memorial Preparatory School, were visited by the awareness team during which time several buckets, cartons of Clorox, packs of nose masks, hand sanitizers, temperature meters, latex gloves and other materials were donated.
