LOGAN, Utah â Officials are investigating after racist language and images were found in the Logan High School parking lot Wednesday.
According to the district, the vandalism was discovered in the parking lot and was removed after it was documented and reported to law enforcement.
As clearly and explicitly as possible, the Logan City School District condemns both the use of racist language and imagery in any context, and the harmful ideologies that promote their use, a statement from the district said. We are saddened by this act of vandalism, and reiterate to our students, staff, and community our commitment to promoting a safe and equitable learning environment for all students. ....

New Logan High principal selected for upcoming school year

Daryl Guymon was appointed as the new principal at Logan High School on July 1.
Ken Auld, the previous principal, was appointed in 2016 and resigned to be closer to family on the Wasatch Front.
Guymon graduated from San Juan High School in Blanding and received his bachelorâs and masterâs degrees from Utah State University. He said his two sons also graduated from USU.

Guymon said heâs been working with the Logan City School District for 26 years.
âI was elated to be able to get to work with the incredible LHS community,â he said. âI know the high quality and level of dedication of the LHS teachers and staff. I know the commitment of Logan parents and other members of the community. I know of the unlimited potential of the students who attend LHS.â ....

Salt Lake City High Schools To Start An Hour Later This Fall

Beginning this Fall, Salt Lake City high schools will start an hour later, thanks to a unanimous decision made by the Salt Lake City School Board.
According to a report from FOX 13, classes will begin at 8:45 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. Classes are currently starting at 7:45. The hope is that students will be able to get more sleep before class.

Melissa Ford, the Salt Lake City School Board President, said she believes the benefits will outweigh her concerns of the schedule change interfering with student’s other responsibilities, such as jobs, siblings or after school activities.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the school board has been studying this change for over a year. The Logan City School District is the only other district in northern Utah with a start time after 8 a.m. ....
