Wednesday, June 9, 2021 Chain helps fund teachers projects for Teacher Appreciation Month Four teachers with the Southwest School District in Washburn recently received a combined donation of $725 from national restaurant chain Sonic Drive-In. The donation was made on Teacher Appreciation Day Tuesday, May 4 through Sonics Limeades for Learning initiative, which donated $1.5 million to help fund more than 7,000 teacher requests for critical resources made on the national education nonprofit site DonorsChoose.org. The four Southwest teachers are: Brooke Thiesen, from Southwest High School, for the project Making a Mark Through the Searing Touch of Creativity, which seeks to provide art students with wood burning kits to use in a study about contour lines; Jessica Naugle, from Southwest Elementary School, for the project Lets Clean This Mess, which seeks cleaning supplies meant to combat messes that have arisen as a result of forcing students to eat break ....
