Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater North Texas has announced that Annaliese Mahaley of Waxahachie Global High School is among 30 local high school seniors as recipients of its 2021 Scholarships Program.
Each student will receive a $2,000 scholarship, funded by the McDonald’s Owner/Operators of North Texas. The annual scholarship program awards more than $60,000 to North Texas area students, recognizing outstanding academic achievements and community involvement.
“Congratulations to the class of 2021 and this year’s scholarship recipients,” said Cliff Johnson Sr., local McDonald’s owner/operator and chairman of the RMHCNTX Board. “We understand the importance of a college education and are proud to help alleviate some of the financial stress associated with preparing for college. Daughters of American Revolution honor Good Citizens at Patriots' Tea

On Sunday, April 25, the Rebecca Boyce Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its annual Good Citizen Patriots’ Tea at the First Baptist Church in Waxahachie. Regent Vicki Williams welcomed the 75 members, guests and honorees in attendance.
Each high school in Ellis County was invited to choose their Good Citizen. This student exemplifies leadership, dependability, service and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities. Teachers and peers select the students because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.
Once a student is chosen as the DAR Good Citizen from their school, they are invited to participate in the scholarship portion of the program. This consists of a personal statement and an essay about our American heritage and the responsibility of preserving it for future generations. A $1,000 scholarship ....
