Madison Heights announces Spring Cleanup Day, No Fee Brush Chipping Week

MADISON HEIGHTS Two events in early May will help Madison Heights residents to tidy up.
The first is No Fee Brush Chipping Week, the week of May 3. Residents can place branches and brush at the curb on their normally scheduled garbage day, which the city will collect and chip, free of charge.
The branches must be placed neatly in piles at the curb, cut into 4-foot lengths, and the branches must not extend into the street or sidewalk. They must be put out by 7 a.m. The service is provided by the Madison Heights Department of Public Services in collaboration with the city’s solid waste contractor, Green For Life Environmental, known as GFL. ....

Spring Cleanup Day at Woodlawn April 24

ELLSWORTH Woodlawn is holding its Spring Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 24, 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are invited to join the Woodlawn staff and board members for lawn raking, garden clean-up, trail work and other tasks needed to prepare the property for the summer season. Volunteers are asked to bring their own rake, gloves and masks as current COVID protocols will be followed. Woodlawn will provide water and light refreshments.  
Local high school students are encouraged to participate in cleanup day, as it provides a great opportunity to earn their required community service hours. In an effort to keep DeSoto County clean and beautiful, Spring Cleanup Day on April 17 kicks off a week of Spring Cleaning.  
The Board of Supervisors, Mayors of DeSoto County, and Keep DeSoto County Beautiful encourage all citizens to take part in the Countywide Cleanup Day on April 17 from 9am-12pm.  Groups, communities, Churches, HOAs, families, and individuals are encouraged to adopt an intersection or road.  Registered volunteers will receive a Cleanup Kit. The kits can be picked up starting Monday, April 12 through Friday, April 16 at the DeSoto County Administration Building located at 365 Losher Street, Hernando. KEY ACTION  Heard Mayor Steve Smith contacted the Ohio Public Works about the green space on Wooster Avenue. He also contacted the Ohio Department of Transportation about putting three lanes through the village and eliminating on-street parking. Council members did not comment on the matter. Smith said the traffic study should be done and would be presented at the 6 p.m. April 6 meeting. 
DISCUSSION: Council was given the information on the green space and three-lane concept at Tuesday’s council meeting. Smith ask the deed restrictions be removed at the property located at 115 N. Wooster. The green space was a $174,035 grant but the final funds dispersed was $121,508. OPW would be agreeable to the repayment of the disbursed amount and waive any liquated damages in exchange for removal of the deed restrictions. Smith wants make the green space into a parking lot. Smith said the green space is being driven across by individuals wanting to access the post ....
