Cecilie Watkins passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at the age of 66. The daughter of the late William Krigbaum Watkins and Fayetta Lilley Watkins. Survivors include her dear husband of 30 years, William Partlow; brother, Bill (Ruth) Watkins; niece, Katy Watkins; nephew, David (Hannah) Watkins; and aunt, Gail Zwick and numerous cousins.
Cecilie was born in Wheeling, WV and raised on a dairy farm in Belmont County, Ohio. After graduating from Muskingum College she moved to Cincinnati for a long career in social work at Jobs and Family Services. Cecilie always sought the outdoors whether hiking birdwatching, or gardening. Her home was always filled with a couple of cats and much music. ....

As those swirling, turquoise blue days arrive, the pull of the weather is too much to resist and it’s a perfect photographer’s backdrop. Looking to snap a few family portraits this spring? We asked some local photographers about their favorite spots to take photos around the city.

Lives Remembered: Dave Kern


It was a way of life.
And for 53 years he looked out for his family and the people of Liberty Township – as a husband, father, firefighter, a trustee, farmer, nursery owner, volunteer, outdoorsman, and conservationist.
The U.S. Army veteran died April 12 at the age of 79 after a long battle with lung and pancreatic cancer.
“I was raised to believe public service was your civic duty,’’ Kern said in an interview after leaving office.
Born and raised in Wyoming, Kern served 10 years as a volunteer firefighter there. His grandfather spent 35 years on council.
After moving to the family farm in Liberty Township in 1968 when he married his wife Katy, Kern became a volunteer firefighter in Liberty Township. He and Katy operated Kern Nursery and Landscaping until it closed in 2005. ....

CINCINNATI (Enquirer) - Marjorie Parham, an accidental publisher who took control of the Cincinnati Herald after her husband’s death and for more than 30 years made the newspaper a guide star for the region’s Black residents as well as the city, died Wednesday, according to our media partners at the Enquirer. ....
