STATE REPRESENTATIVE SCHEDULED TO BE FEATURED SPEAKER AT WHITEMAN 33RD MEMORIAL WREATH LAYING CEREMONY


Representative Brad Pollitt, a Republican, who represents parts of Johnson and Pettis Counties (District 52) in the Missouri House of Representatives, is scheduled to be the featured speaker at an area event next month.
Whiteman Air Force Base’s 33rd Memorial Wreath Laying Ceremony is scheduled to be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, at Memorial Park Cemetery at 3306 Greenridge Road in Sedalia.
The event is being held in memory of 2nd Lieutenant George A. Whiteman of the U.S. Air Force (born October 12, 1929; died December 7, 1941).
Pollitt was elected to his first two-year term in November 2018.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Pollitt is the owner and operator of Rocher P. Cattle Company LLC. He previously worked as an educator and administrator for 34 years. Pollitt served as a teacher and coach in North Shelby and Sedalia; a principal in Smithton; assistant superintendent in Knob Noster; and superintendent in Sedalia. ....

Vanderbilt dean of students to retire after 27-year run


University taps deputy dean to replace Bandas
Mark Bandas, Vanderbilt University s associate provost and dean of students, will retire in May after working 27 years at the West End Avenue institution.
G.L. Black, VU assistant provost and deputy dean of students, will assume the role at that point, according to Vanderbilt.edu.
Bandas’ experience with student life at Vanderbilt began when he worked toward a Ph.D. while serving as a resident adviser and living in the McGill Project on campus. After completing his doctorate at VU, Bandas undertook various academic positions at Tennessee State University, Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) and the University of Richmond. He returned to Vanderbilt in 1994 as assistant dean of residential and judicial affairs. A resident of North House on campus for 27 years, Bandas was named to his current role in 2006. ....
