Sheriff's report: 100 teens gathered for fight at park, complete with championship belt

Around 100 high schoolers gathered at Matt Knoop Park Friday night for what appeared to be an organized fight, according to Summit County Sheriff’s Lt. Andrew Wright.
The teenagers scattered when they noticed deputies arriving, Wright said, but the parking lot was full to overflowing.
“Several students who remained on the field stated they had boxing gloves and mouthguards. One student was carrying a championship belt and stating they did not have a winner yet,” Wright said.
Deputies told the teens that the park closed at dark and they should leave.
Wright indicated the teens did so, with two asking for a ride from a deputy because they were cold. ....

A bureaucratic restructuring years in the making, and one that may still take years to finalize, has at its core a simple request.
“The expectation for an ambulance to come when you call, and to come in a reasonable amount of time, is exactly the same on both sides (of the county),” said Francis Mayor Byron Ames last fall in a meeting of Summit County councilors and East Side mayors.

Semi truck hauling propane rolls over on I-84, forces evacuations in area

A semi truck hauling 10,000 gallons of propane rolled over on I-84 near the intersection with I-80 this afternoon, forcing the closure of both interstates and evacuations in the immediate area.
Numerous agencies responded to the scene around 1:30 p.m., including North Summit Fire District, Utah Highway Patrol and a hazardous materials team from Park City Fire District. Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Bishop said the semi was traveling westbound from I-80 to I-84 when the rollover occurred. The truck was hauling two trailers, he said, and the propane tank on the second trailer “appeared to have breached completely.” ....
