The city police robbery unit is seeking a suspect after staff at a Westboro store selling clothing were allegedly threatened with bear spray.
Police said a man walked into the unidentified store on Richmond Road near Churchill Avenue North at about noon on Dec. 7, selected several items of clothing and concealed them. When staff questioned him, he pulled out the can of bear spray before fleeing with the items, police allege.

OTTAWA– December 15, 2020. The Ottawa Police is asking for the public’s assistance to help identify a man responsible for a commercial robbery that occurred on December 7th, 2020, in the 300 block of Richmond Road. At approximately 12:00 pm a man entered a retail store, selected several clothing items and concealed them. When the suspect was questioned by staff members, he produced a can of bear spray and threatened the staff. He fled the area with the items. Police are trying to identify a suspect in a Richmond Road robbery where store staff were allegedly threatened with bear spray. ....
