Padiham town centre road closure chaos next month

THE main street of a town centre will be closed in sections next month as part of the final stages of a major project.
The diversions will be out in place on Burnley Road in Padiham between August 3 and August 27.
Lancashire County Council contractors will be resurfacing the carriageway and improving the pavements and pedestrian facilities.
The improvements are part of the multi-million pound North-West Burnley Growth Corridor scheme and complement the £14 million Padiham Townscape Heritage Initiative.
Burnley Road will be shut to through traffic with three separate section closures planned. ....

Work on £9m. Padiham flood scheme gathers pace
Padiham s multi-million pound flood risk management scheme is set to move a step closer to construction with ground investigation works starting this week.

Plans for the scheme itself include new and enhanced flood walls, earth embankments as well as modifications to the local highways
The Environment Agency will carry out the investigations including digging of trial pits and boreholes to identify foundations and underground services at sites across the town.
The work is expected to last for around eight weeks.
This investigation work is essential to the scheme and will allow the Environment Agency, Burnley Borough Council and other partners to anticipate any issues and plan effectively for the construction phase. ....
