Hancock County voted Monday to join the Central Iowa Community Services (CICS) mental health region, currently comprised of 11 counties that work in partnership to support people with mental health and developmental disabilities. Until fiscal year 2021-2022 begins in July, Hancock County will continue its partnership with County Social Services (CSS), which is currently made up of 19 counties. Hancock County was also invited to enter into the much smaller Northwest Care Connections (NWIACC) 6 county region; however, after careful consideration the Hancock County Board of Supervisors didn’t feel it was a perfect fit. Supervisor Chairman Gary Rayhons tells how this new CICS region will actually save county taxpayers money. ....

Hancock County Board to Review Drainage Projects – Mix 107.3 KIOW

The Hancock County Board of Supervisors will meet on Monday to discuss several issues in drainage and the direction the county will take in mental health regions.
The meeting at the Hancock County Courthouse will begin at 9 am with Hancock County Secondary Roads Engineer Jeremy Purvis discussing the current state of the county’s secondary roads. He will review any projects that may be needed along with repairs and resurfacing.
Hancock County Drainage Clerk Ann Hinders will address the board on a contract from Reutzel Excavating Incorporated which deals with an open ditch repair in Drainage District 174. The contract is for $71,041.50 and will be to clean out debris, trees, and sediment. ....

Hancock County Applies to CICS Mental Health Region

Hancock County has now submitted an application to join the Central Iowa Community Services (CICS) mental health region, after receiving news from the Northwest Care Connections region their levy rate would be assessed at 35.18, even though some of the counties including much larger Clay County is only assessed at 12 and others at 25 to 28.
Currently, Hancock County remains within the County Social Services (CSS) region with a levy rate around 30, but every county within CSS pays the same levy. Now after learning that the levy rate in CICS for all counties is around 22, Hancock County is now reconsidering its options, Supervisor Jerry Tlach explains. ....
