PETALING JAYA: The Transport Ministry has put in place various mechanisms to ensure it is an exemplary institution that is free from corruption, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Transport Minister said the government had earlier launched the National Anti-Corruption Plan (2019-2023) on Jan 29, 2019, that outlined the need for every government agency to obtain the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) certification.
“The development and implementation of the certification of ABMS together with the launch of the Anti-Corruption Management System (SPAR) manual this year shows that the Transport Ministry is heeding the calls by the government to be the benchmark of an excellent organisation in terms of good governance, integrity and anti-corruption,” he said on Facebook yesterday following the launch of the SPAR manual for the Transport M ....

JPJ counters open from today


PETALING JAYA: Counter services will resume from today for agencies under the purview of the Transport Ministry, including the Road Transport Department (JPJ), Land Public Transport Agency (Apad), Puspakom, Marine Department, as well as the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board in Sabah and Sarawak.
In a statement, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said counter services would be only for services that could not be conducted or transacted online, and where physical attendance was by appointment only, with counter staff limited to 50% of normal capacity.
JPJ will allow counter services for all commercial and private transactions and services from today except for services that are available online through mySIKAP or JPJ’s service partners, with this applicable nationwide. ....

Puspakom to resume services effective today (July 1)


PETALING JAYA: Puspakom services - including mobile inspections - will resume effective Thursday (July 1), says Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
To make things easier for the rakyat, I have instructed the director-general of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to remove the requirement to obtain a confirmation letter from the JPJ before conducting a vehicle inspection at Puspakom, he said.
An official statement from the JPJ will be issued shortly, added Dr Wee in a post on Facebook on Thursday.
In the same post, Dr Wee also shared the latest notice regarding Puspakom s operating hours.
Its operation time will be from Monday to Friday or Sunday to Thursday for Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu between 8am to 5.30pm, while inspections will be on Saturday at selected branches only. ....

The decision was to enable part-timers or freelancers to continue their activities to generate income for themselves, he added.
“For businesses involving delivery of goods under categories Lori Pembawa A and Lori Pembawa C, they must have the operator licence, ” he said.
Dr Wee said there was a need for the Transport Ministry (MOT) to study the use of private vehicles for goods delivery by entrepreneurs whose sources of income, particularly those involved in the gig economy, had been compromised due to the pandemic to enable them to sustain their side income and business activities and their families.
“I instructed the MOT and its agencies to study this matter and develop appropriate regulations so that their business activities can thrive in a regulated environment. ....
