Two nonprofit organizations in New Canaan teamed up to organize an art exhibition celebrating women that opened Thursday.

“She Is Rising,” presented by LiveGirl and the Carriage Barn Arts Center, runs through June 5 at the well-known gallery in Waveny Park.
Sheri West, LiveGirl’s founder and CEO, said the exhibition reflects her organization’s work to “build confident, inclusive, leaders.” ....

Tomorrow, Saturday, January 30 the Carriage Barn Art Center’s annual juried photography show will open to the public from Noon-4pm.
The community is invited to view and celebrate pieces by eighty professional, amateur and student photographers whose work was selected for inclusion in this year’s show. Indoor capacity will be limited to 25 people at a time and masks must be worn.
The show was juried by Kathy McCarver Root, a gallerist and dealer specializing in fine art photography, and owner of KMR Arts in Washington Depot, Connecticut. “With almost 600 entries, I was impressed by the wide variety of subject matter and approaches photographers employed” say Root. “The images selected display exceptional creativity and skill and highlight the diversity of photographic practice among the submissions.” ....

The Carriage Barn Arts Center invites regional photographers to participate in the organization’s 41st Annual Juried Show January 30 - February 27, 2021 in New Canaan
The Carriage Barn Art Center has announced details of the organization s 41st annual juried photography show, opening in the gallery and virtually on January 30, 2021. The exhibit will be juried by Kathryn McCarver Root, owner of KMR Arts, a gallery in Washington Depot, CT specializing in fine art photography. The Carriage Barn Arts Center and McCarver Root will present a series of photography-related programming, both virtually and in the gallery, throughout the exhibit.
