Dog's of Bethel: Eli, the Golden Dog | Lewiston Sun Journal

BETHEL Born without a tail but with much spirit, Eli sits next to the desk in the Historical Society’s Library next to his Dad and owner, Will Chapman.
“The best thing [about him] is he hikes 2 to 3 miles every day,” says Chapman, explaining that at age 4, Eli is getting stronger and stronger every day. He is named after Chapman’s fifth great-grandfather, Reverend Eliphaz Chapman who named the town, what is now known as, ‘Bethel,’ and previously was called, ‘Sudbury, Canada.’
“He’s a nice companion, always enthusiastic, brightens your day,” says Chapman, petting Eli, next to him. “He stays right by your side.” ....

2020 Belmont Park Circle Christmas trees a welcome sight


BELMONT — The challenges people have faced during 2020 have made community activities and celebrations difficult at times.
But there are some traditions which can be upheld during this holiday time and this year, the Belmont village crew was able to uphold a tradition.
The crew was able to prepare the evergreen trees in Park Circle with better weather than usual, and each were decorated by a sponsor for everyone to enjoy during the holiday season.
The trees this year were purchased from the Belmont Fire Department. Mayor Ray DeTine supported this community activity, and crew members Chelsea Presutti Kubiak, Brian Fanton, and Scott Fenesse set the trees in position and provided electric lines for each tree. ....
