THE City Government of Bacolod is open to any proposal that can help the local tourism industry recover from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, said Mayor Evelio Leonardia during the Tourism Stakeholders’ Meeting organized by the Department of Tourism at the Seda Capitol Central, Bacolod Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
“If you (tourism stakeholders) have any proposal, we are willing to go over them; we are open to that. If we can hear your proposal, I can take it up with the SP (Sangguniang Panlungsod),” Leonardia told the stakeholders from the public and private sectors.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat had called for a tourism stakeholders’ meeting Tuesday to discuss with the provincial and city governments, and the various stakeholders from private and public sectors, the rehabilitation and recovery efforts of the industry to restart tourism activities. ....

G.O. will benefit thousands of faculty, says association
The Higher Education Department in Tamil Nadu has adopted the 2018 regulations of the University Grants Commission for appointments and promotion of faculty in institutions of higher learning.
The department released an order to this effect on January 11.
The Tamil Nadu Government Teachers’ Association has welcomed the move saying the regulations would benefit college teachers immensely.
R. Damodaran, general secretary, said, “We had been demanding that the regulations be accepted. The implementation would not only financially benefit college teachers but also bring in much needed improvements in faculty appointments, college work hours, and teacher-student duties and responsibilities.” ....
