RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Since February’s ice storm, 242 complaints from Southside Electric Cooperative members have been reported to the State Corporation Commission. The SCC is now doing a thorough review of Southside Electric’s entire response to the storm.
A week and a half after that ice storm pummeled central Virginia, NBC12 reported more than 13,000 Southside Electric customers were still without electricity and heat, in many cases. By that same time, almost all Dominion Energy customers had their power restored, along with most other providers across the state, according to the poweroutage.us website, which tracks outages nationwide. ....

CREWE, Va. (WWBT) - Southside Electric Cooperative has increased its line crews working to restore power outages thanks to mutual aid and contract crews.
Crews from five states and neighboring Virginia Electric Cooperatives and contract crews, including Dominion Energy, are assisting SEC’s restoration efforts after Winter Storms Tabitha knocked out power to 80 percent of members.
“We are grateful to our Cooperative mutual-aid and contract crews, and thankful to Dominion and their contract crews for providing assistance to our crews who have been working around the clock since last Saturday to restore power to our members,” said SEC President and CEO Jeff Edwards. ....

Holiday trees and greenery in the nation’s capital will be collected from Department of Public Works-serviced households from Jan. 11 to Feb. 5. Place them outside where your trash is normally collected.
