Mentoring scheme to help district's young people

AN award-winning mentoring programme is being launched in the district.
The Grandmentors scheme – which already successfully operates in nine other areas of the UK – supports young people aged 16 to 24 who are not in employment, education or training.
They are matched-up with a mentor, who helps the young person to be better equipped for the world of work and boosts their aspirations and self-confidence.
Behind the initiative is the Volunteering Matters charity, which will work in partnership with Bradford Council’s Bradford For Everyone programme – led by the Stronger Communities team.
Volunteer mentors, who should be aged 25-plus, are now being sought. ....

Volunteering Matters' Grandmentors comes to Bradford | Bradford Telegraph and Argus

AN award-winning mentoring programme is coming to Bradford to help young people aged 16-24 who are out of employment, education or training.
Grandmentors, a programme created by national charity Volunteering Matters, which already runs in nine areas across the UK, is on the look out for volunteers above 25 from the district.
Working in partnership with the Bradford For Everyone programme, which is led by the Stronger Communities team at Bradford Council, Grandmentors aims to have a positive impact on the life chances of young people by matching them with an older volunteer mentor who will provide guidance and act as a positive role model. ....
