Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents continue to find armed human smugglers near the border in South Texas. Agents seized three weapons in a 24-hour period from smugglers moving groups of migrants into the U.S. interior.
Freer Station agents received an alert on January 11 about a group of migrants marching through a ranch just east of Highway 16, according to information obtained from Laredo Sector Border Patrol officials. Human smugglers frequently march migrants through ranches to circumvent interior Border Patrol immigration checkpoints.

Border Patrol: Disturbing Trend of Armed Illegal Aliens


 
LAREDO, TX –   Laredo Sector Border Patrol has encountered a dangerous trend of weapons being encountered during human smuggling events. Within 24 hours, three weapons were seized in three separate events involving human smuggling.
The first incident occurred during the late afternoon of January 10, when agents from the Freer Station acted on an alert of several individuals traveling by foot in a ranch just east of State Highway 16. With assistance from Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations, they were able to apprehend five individuals on a walking trail in the brush. During a search of the individuals, agents discovered a backpack that contained a loaded shotgun. All of the individuals were in the United States illegally and from the countries of Mexico and Guatemala. ....

Combined Law Enforcement Action Shuts Down Stash Houses
LAREDO, TEXAS - Within hours of each other, Laredo Sector Border Patrol, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Webb County Sherriff s Office (WCSO) and Webb County Constables Precinct 2 (WCCO) shut down two stash houses that were harboring 114 illegal aliens in south Laredo.
The incident occurred during the midafternoon of January 6, when agents along with HSI and WCCO deputies, conducted a consensual search of a residence located on Lane Street that resulted in the arrest of 44 illegal aliens.
Within a few hours, agents discovered that a second residence on San Luis was harboring other individuals illegally in the United States. Acting on the information, agents and WCSO apprehended 70 more illegal aliens at the stash house. ....

Within hours of each other, Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents along with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Laredo Police Department (LPD), Webb County Attorney’s Office (WCAO) officers and Webb County Constables Precinct 2 (WCCO) deputies shut down two separate stash houses nabbing 25 immigrants in Laredo that were illegally in the country.
The first incident occurred during the mid-afternoon of Dec. 15, when agents working with LPD, WCCO and WCAO, acted on information of suspicious activity at a home on Vidaurri Avenue.
