More than 26,100 Indian websites were hacked in 2020, compared to 24,768 websites attacked in the previous year, Parliament was informed Thursday.
According to information reported to and tracked by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), a total of 17,560; In 2018, 2019 and 2020, 24,768 and 26,121 Indian websites were hacked, respectively, the Minister of Communications and IT Sanjay Dhotre said in a written response to the Rajya Sabha.
“There have been attempts from time to time to launch cyber-attacks on Indian cyberspace,” he added.
Dhotre said attackers have been observed to compromise computer systems in various parts of the world and use masquerade techniques and hidden servers to hide the identities of actual systems from which the attacks are carried out. ....
