The rain fell relentlessly as the line of cars inched into the parking lot, backed up further than Lisa Scales could see. Peering through fogged-up glasses, she walked up to each car and asked the driver where she should put the box of food. “In the back seat or the trunk?”

Volunteers carry boxes of food to awating vehicles at Bethel Park High School during a drive-through food distribution hosted by South Hills Interfaith Movement in partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020. The distribution had enough food to feed 1,000 families. Each vehicle received boxes of non-perishable food as well as meat, dairy items and vegetables.
