Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra, playing at the music festival this weekend.
CANBERRA International Music Festival kicks off on Friday, April 30, and runs until May 9, mostly at the Fitters Workshop, Kingston, but it’s also streaming via a 10-concert digital pass here and, as well, there’ll be a “student” rush, one hour before at the door, for all concerts. Book here.
THE Royal Academy of Dance Australia will host a gala evening of performance by students at ACT and Riverina area dance schools this Sunday. RAD, which has a quarter of a million students worldwide, will present a program which spans genres from ballet to Broadway and contemporary to character. The enthusiastic young cast of Budding Entertainment’s “Be More Chill” performing “The Pitiful Children”.
THE enthusiastic young cast of “Be More Chill” gave Canberrans a taste of the show in Garema Place today, with an energetic performance of “The Pitiful Children”, one of the musical’s big songs.
Ask any young person around town about “Be More Chill” and they’ll know it’s a Broadway show that’s incredibly popular on music apps like Spotify.
Staged by Budding Entertainment, the musical will be on at Gungahlin College Theatre later in March, directed by Glynis Stokes.

ORIGINAL drawings and paintings by the artists of “The Picturesque Atlas of Australasia” will be on show at the National Library of Australia’s next big exhibition, “A Nation Imagined: The Artists of the Picturesque Atlas“, a staged partnership with the Art Gallery of NSW. “The Atlas”, published between 1886 and 1889, set out to document through illustrations, maps and text a settler-colonial view of Australia’s history, landscape and ways of life and became a catalyst for Australian impressionism.
