Both the ruling and main opposition parties have claimed the high early voting turnout in Wednesday s by-elections would work to their advantages, helping their candidates win the Seoul and Busan mayoral races.
While the ruling Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) said the high early voting turnout showed the DPK supporters solidarity and high participation in favor of its candidate Park Young-sun, the main opposition People Power Party (PPP) said people would have voted for its candidate Oh Se-hoon to judge the policy failures of the ruling bloc. ....

Amid declining approval ratings for President Moon Jae-in especially following public anger over property speculation scandals involving public officials, the ruling Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) and its candidates running in next week s Seoul and Busan mayoral by-elections are keeping the Moon administration at arm s length, with some even criticizing its policy failures including its real estate drive.

Only six days are left ahead of this year’s Seoul and Busan mayoral by-elections set to be held on April 7. The people’s choice remains in fact, as early voting will be held on Friday and Saturday. From Thursday, results of public opinion polls for the election will be prohibited to be released until voting ends. 
Ahead of one day before early voting, poll experts revealed their electoral prospects and last-minute variables.
