Police Seek Men Who Stole Vehicle's Catalytic Converter in Pasadena

PASADENA (CNS) - Police sought the public s help in identifying two men who attacked a man in Pasadena today when he spotted the pair stealing his vehicle s catalytic converter.
“A 50-year-old man heard noises coming from outside his home and discovered two men had lifted his car somehow and were removing the car s catalytic converter, Pasadena Police Department Lt. Anthony Burgess said.
The 50-year-old man confronted the suspects and one of the assailants struck him in the back of the head with the catalytic converter, Burgess said.
The theft occurred a little before 12:50 a.m. in the 1400 block of Elizabeth Street, he said. Both suspects fled the scene in a beige or gold car, along with the converter, he said.   ....

Cape Town police uncovered a R3m drug haul destined for Johannesburg on Sunday evening.
Western Cape police spokesperson Brig Novela Potelwa said members of the provincial integrated team and Rapid Rail police unit followed up on information about the massive drug exchange on Saturday evening.
She said the team observed boxes being offloaded from one vehicle into another. They then pursued the vehicle bearing the consignment and stopped it along Robert Sobukwe Road in the Cape Town suburb of Ravensmead. ....

Removal of human waste from rail tracks may soon be mechanised | India News

NEW DELHI: A self-propelled railway track scavenging vehicle may soon replace manual scavenging and cleaning that is still practiced to remove human waste on railway tracks. The multifunctional vehicle requires only one person along with a driver to carry out the automatic cleaning of the track.
Developed by the Bhopal-based National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR), it can be used as a material/ garbage transport vehicle from track to road by Indian Railways.
“It can also be used as maintenance/inspection vehicle and disinfectant spraying vehicle,” said the science ministry in a statement, noting that men and women are currently seen removing excreta from the tracks with brooms and metal plates despite the ban on manual scavenging in the country since 1993. ....

Merchants’ and traders’ associations in Aurangabad district are in “wait and watch” mode, following the announcement of fresh set of curbs by the Maharashtra government to control the spread of Covid-19.
As per the guidelines issued by the state government, shops that don’t sell essential commodities will have to remain shut till April 30.
Hospitals, medicals stores, shops selling vegetables, groceries, dairies and bakeries have been permitted to operate.
