Matthew Calleros has been charged with stealing a truck from a dealership and then driving It for over a year before finally getting caught.
Calleros allegedly went to a small local car dealer in 2019 and drove a 2015 Chevy Silverado off the lot after asking a salesman to pull a Carfax report on the truck. When the salesman returned with the report, he saw Calleros stealing the truck. Then, after stealing the truck, Calleros used another L.A. police officer s ID to call his department s Vehicle Warrant Unit to report the pickup had been recovered. ....

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. - A Los Angeles Police Department officer accused of stealing a truck from a car dealership and then tampering with the department s investigation is facing felony charges.
According to Orange County District DA Todd Spitzer s office, 45-year-old Matthew Calleros pleaded
not guilty Monday to one felony count of unlawful taking of a vehicle, one felony count of forging of a license plate and one felony count of false personation. Calleros is also charged with three misdemeanor counts of unauthorized disclosure of information from the Department of Motor Vehicle records. ....

A Los Angeles Police officer is facing criminal charges in Orange County alleging he stole a pickup truck from a car dealership, used it to drive to work and attempted to cover up the theft using law enforcement resources.
Matthew Calleros, 45, of Whittier pleaded not guilty Monday to several felony and misdemeanor counts, including unlawful taking of a vehicle and forging a license plate, according to Orange County Superior Court records. ....
