NA-249 by-poll: Candidates woo voters with promises of water

KARACHI: Keeping in view the scarcity of water in various neighbourhoods falling under the NA-249 constituency, candidates of all the political parties contesting the by-election are politicking around the issue that every resident has been facing for the past several decades.
For the majority of the voters in the constituency as well, the drinking water crisis is a major issue and they are demanding candidates contesting the by-poll to come up with a clear-cut and time-bound solution for the same.
Long lines of blue plastic drums, canisters, buckets and bottles outside the water supply tanks are clearly seen in most of the neighbourhoods in the constituency. Tankers and donkey carts are also seen selling water to the residents. ....

Guwahati, April 13 (IANS) The Gauhati High Court has set aside an order of a Foreigners Tribunal declaring a state resident a foreigner for not showing linkage with all his relatives mentioned in the voters list even after he had established his linkage with his father and grandfather.

Kolkata, April 12 (IANS) Though the BJP has made a convincing dent into the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled tribe votes and the Muslim that constitute 30 per cent of the electorate, the population stands divided between Trinamool congress and The Indian Secular Front (ISF) floated by Muslim cleric Abbas Siddiqui. Yet, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is trying to bank on the women and minority votes to sail through the election this year. Considering this poll mathematics there are some seats across the state which can be considered to be safe for the ruling Trinamool Congress.
