TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) - In Tuscaloosa County, a health services agency said itâs doing everything it can to make sure everyone who wants a COVID vaccine can get one.
This all started with a sonâs love, trying for months to get his nearly 90-year-old mom a COVID shot at home. After a Tuscaloosa County commissioner made some calls, Whatley Health services offered to help, making it the first time for them to do something like this. ....

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Ron Abernathy told WBRC several months ago that he wanted to vaccinate jail inmates from coronavirus.
We’ve learned that’s happened at least twice. Abernathy said 74 inmates were vaccinated on Friday.
A smaller group of inmates, around 10, were vaccinated about a month ago.
This started months ago when nearly 200 of about 700 inmates in the Tuscaloosa County jail said they were interested in getting vaccinated, according to the Sheriff.
Both county inmates and those who are state prisoners waiting to be taken to state prisons to serve time are eligible to get vaccinated. ....

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) - Local healthcare provider Maude Whatley Healthcare Services played a big role with coronavirus testing in West Alabama. Starting this weekend, it will also become a key player with coronavirus vaccinations.
Whatley Health Services got its first coronavirus vaccine shipment last week. It will begin vaccinating people Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
“They’ll actually come inside and they’ll be given the vaccine in here by our nurses, and then we’ll have an observation time for them,” Whatley CEO David Gay said. ....
