The Town of Hammondville is hosting is first annual car show on Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at 10 a.m. Vehicles may register the day of the event, $25 per vehicle and $20 per motorcycle. There will be a 50/50 drawing, music, food, prizes and various vendor booths. All proceeds will go to refurbish Hammondvilleâs baseball field.
The Fort Payne City Pool is open Monday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Daily pass is $3, Individual Season Pass is $100 and Family Pass (up to 4) is $150 with $10 per each additional child. Hours may vary based on staffing, attendance, maintenance and weather.
The 110th Annual DeKalb County Fiddlersâ Convention has been canceled. It is presented annually by Landmarks of DeKalb County and the City of Fort Payne in the Fort Payne Opera House. Future plans will be announced.
There are more ways than ever to reduce, reuse and recycle in Chapel Hill, with the most recent opportunity to keep waste out of the landfills coming in the form of a new composting location.
The Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market has begun accepting residential food waste at its University Place location. This new drop-off program will divert organic waste from the landfill to create compost and reduce potent greenhouse gas emissions like methane.
Compostable materials can be dropped off during Saturday market hours from 8 a.m. until noon.
Chapel Hill Mayor Pam Hemminger said giving residents a viable way to go green is important to the town’s mission.
Kenton
There will be no immediate services for Carlton “Short” Ray Musselman. Per his request, he will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
He died on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021 at Hardin Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Walnut Grove Church.
The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at pricefh.net.
