Buhari 'll complete federal projects in Bayelsa, says Sylva

MINISTER of State For Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, has assured that President Muhammadu Buhari will complete ongoing federal projects in Bayelsa State.
Sylva, who spoke in a townhall meeting organised by his ministry in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital identified some of the projects as the Brass Fertilizer Plant, the Oil and Gas Industrial Park project at Ogbia, the Oloibiri Museum, the Petrochemical Plant in Polaku among others.
A statement signed by his aide, Julius Bokoru, said Sylva described the projects as interventionist, saying they were strategically designed to create jobs in the state.
The former governor underscored the need for all to work together to make Bayelsa a peaceful and investment-friendly destination and also assured that action would be taken on the Nembe-Brass road and harped on the need for peaceful co-existence among the people of the state. ....

Diri, monarchs, youths demand better federal presence in Bayelsa

Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, on Monday, joined traditional rulers, youths and other key stakeholders to demand a better presence of Federal Government in order to fast track overall development of the state.
The stakeholders made the call during a special town hall meeting organised by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources in conjunction with the state government at the Chief Harold Dappa Biriye Conference Centre in Yenagoa.
They called on the Federal Government to revisit the abandoned federal secretariat and housing projects among other federal infrastructure lacking in the state.
In their presentation, chairman of the Central Zone, Ijaw Youth Council, Clever Inodu, and the council’s spokesman, Ebilade Ekerefe, stressed that constructive engagement of the youths was vital to sustaining the peace and security in the Niger Delta. ....

Kota Kinabalu: The oil and gas (O&G) industry must increase its contribution to Sabah’s economy in order to sustainably support its population and boost value-add activities, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Joachim Gunsalam.
The Sabah Minister of Industrial Development said despite being the country’s largest crude oil producing state which accounted for 42 per cent of total production, Sabah remained the state with the highest unemployment rate and slowest rate of economic growth.
“It is critical for the state to continue moving up the value chain in order to maximise the benefits derived from its hydrocarbon resources and create valuable spin-offs across the state especially for the people. ....
