A FASCINATING insight has been provided into the ancestry of Keighley-born charity fundraising hero Captain Sir Tom Moore.
Research carried out by Finders International has revealed the extent to which his home town was part of Captain Sir Tom’s DNA.
To mark what would have been his 101st birthday, Finders International – a professional probate genealogist firm which stars in the popular TV programme Heir Hunters – traced his family tree, and went back 230 years.
Captain Sir Tom captured the nation’s hearts last year when he walked laps of his garden to mark his 100th birthday – and raised a staggering £38.9 million for NHS charities. He died in February. ....

The pandemic has disrupted every aspect of life, and the dramatic spike in intestate deaths is yet another upsetting example of how many lives have been lost to COVID-19.
Our recent FOI report – which surveyed all 359 local authorities in England and Wales – found that the number of people dying without a will rose by 60% between March and May last year, compared to the same period in 2019.
A fifth of councils also saw intestate deaths more than double in the first three months of the pandemic, while 12% of local authorities reported deaths with no known next-of-kin for the first time. ....

A TV heir hunter has revealed how he unearthed the long-lost son of a Scots adventurer.
Professional genealogist Danny Curran was asked to look for descendants of William Page Mitchell, who had died aged 89 in a flat in Glasgow city centre in 2010.

The former RAF pilot had not made a will and there was no known next of kin for the authorities to contact.
